CHASSIS

Chassis is a fabricated backbone. At the front, a T section provides attachment for the suspension. At the rear a Y section splits to straddle the engine/gearbox unit.

BODY

Body consists of a modular glassfiber construction - a combination of chop, mat, and resin. Body is painted white - org color was blue (PO comment).

FRONT SUSPENSION

Front suspension is based on the ubiquitous Triumph upright and trunion. A-arms are
3-sided bent steel, of unequal length.

Currently:
750# front springs
275# rears
~1.75" lowering
3/16" toe out F
1.25 degrees negative camber F

REAR SUSPENSION

Rear suspension is comprised of boxed steel trailing arms running near parallel to the chassis center, a lower lateral link attaching the bottom of the aluminum hub to the bottom of the gearbox carrier, and the half-shaft acting as an upper lateral link. The upright/hub is aluminum and locates, via a series of bearings, a steel stub axle connected to the half-shaft.

Currently:
275# rears
~1.75" lowering
1/4" toe in R
2 degrees negative camber R

ENGINE - GORDINI

I've found that the plugs foul up w/ too much around town, off-idle driving. But, they clear easily enough when I really get on them. The motor is breathing thru twin 40 DCOEs.

TRANSMISSION

336 is a fine shifting mechanism.

Updated to RD Enterprises supplied Gear Lever Ball Joint & Bearing Plates & Shift Lever bushes. For $88 it went from virtually unshiftable to showroom new.

HUBS WHEELS TIRES

185x60-13 A008Rs are mounted on 13" Revolution Aloys. Tire is basically a DOT-legal slick.

STEERING

Small diameter wheel - column bezel is loose.

BRAKING SYSTEM

Braking has needed lots of bleeding - and the rear shoes needed serious adjustment to minimize pedal travel and promote engagement. Braided brake lines are pending installation.
Master Cylinder has been replace w/ Nissan F10 MC:

COOLING SYSTEM

Currently, running a rear mounted reserve radiator, an oil cooler, and the org radiator has been replaced w/ a lighter VW unit.

FUEL SYSTEM

Standard tank - electric fuel pump, but not the Carter 4070 that I wish it was. Since it's not causing a problem, yet, it will stay. But, the Carter is on the shelf and is know for its excellent performance as a high volme and low pressure pump. Read more

ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT

The tach reads low, the speedo doesn't work, no turn signals or hazards, and the passenger's side window won't move.

Installed an H4 upgrade, w/o requiring resistors or keep-alives. Kit was from Moss Motors and was essentially a. remove old headlights / b. install new headlights

WIRING

An excellent resource, see this schematic.

CLUTCH

Clutch has been replaced (July 20) with a NOS Ferrodo 200D. MarKell conversion and new TOB are working fine.
